Orroro in the in the Flinders Ranges region of South Australia July 2009. It was formerly the home of the Ngadjuri Aboriginal people. The Wilmington-Ucolta Road passes through here, intersecting there with the southern stretch of the Birdsville and Oodnadatta Tracks. The narrow gauge rail line was extended to Orroroo also in 1881 and Quorn in 1882, connecting with the new line from Port Augusta. This line has now been abandoned. A very large hole was blasted into the cliff side for a basketball court. It is 18-feet deep and so far has taken about a year to build. There were 32 cement trucks a day going up this country road for several months. The neighbours say a family is building it for their young son who likes to play basketball at home. It has cost more than a million dollars so far we were told. People in the community are very upset that council did not stop it. Hundred-year old trees were uprooted and a section of the cliff that goes into the sea was destroyed – after millions of years it takes one arrogant human only a few months to destroy the landscape. Manchester-by-the-Sea in Eastern Massachusetts, north of Boston and south of Rockport is a beautiful place. We stayed here with our friends after ten weeks of traveling around the world for a restful week before going back to work in New York City.

Nothing like getting on the wrong freeway and going over the Sydney Harbour Bridge three times to eat up time. The first problem seems to stem from the fact that the major freeway into Sydney with the blinking airport sign goes through the tunnel which only those who have some electronic pass (similar to the ezay pass in New York/New Jersey) are permitted such delights to partake of. Us mere foreign mortals are directed to the bridge which has a couple of conflicting signs. The first time over I asked at the ‘change only’ booth and was directed to go forward then a left and a few rights and over some other byway then signs to the airport would magically appear. Of course they never did and I forgot the directions after the first right then the next left and somehow found myself in the lane of no changes that went back over the bridge and into North Sydney where I asked at Flight Centre for directions. A male said to be sure I was in the left lane going over the bridge and the female said to be sure I was in the right lane. Not believing either one I found signs leading once again to the bridge then I saw the airport sign – in the left lane. I took this video – probably more dangerous filming and driving in a narrow lane at 100 K’s than to talk on the phone – actually I have done that before – talked on the phone whilst filming and using my knees to keep the car on path. In Melbourne and the gold mining town of Bendigo Victoria Australia visiting Sacha and Georgia. Our favourite restaurant was The Horn where we listened to jazz. A traditional Ethiopian chef has been installed in the kitchen, spinning out fragrant African dishes. The evocative name refers to the jutting point of the continent where Ethiopia is located (seriously, get your minds out of the gutter, folks), but also makes reference to the restaurant's regular live jazz nights. Diners can sit surrounded by Ethiopian artefacts, nibbling on the country's unique cuisine and listening to the toe-tapping notes of a jazz band. Dining experiences don't come much more unique than this.

We stayed in Phnom Penh for a week then flew up to Siem Reap. Phnom Penh stretches N to S on W side of the confluence of the Tonle Sap & Mekong rivers. The city offers a fascinating cocktail of flavors. The crumbling, colonial architecture & wide boulevard-style roads, give the city a relaxed French feel. This provides a contrasting background to the vibrant Cambodian markets & typically chaotic SE Asian traffic, the roads choked with motos, cyclos and cars. Phnom Penh is the only major city on the banks of the Mekong. Sunset is a good time to visit the riverside area. A multitude of restaurants offer cuisine from all over Asia & Europe. In spite of it's dangerous reputation, Phnom Penh also has an excellent variety of nightlife, from small bistro-style bars to huge glitzy nightclubs & for a few more months, a casino ship. Streets are numbered, Odd numbered streets run E toW, starting from the river, Even numbered streets run N to S.
